Autumn Term 2 - Festivities!

Autumn Term 2 - Festivities

This term the children will spend time exploring and talking about traditions and customs that are relevant to their family, such as birthdays, bonfire night and Christmas. We also introduce the Hindu festival of Diwali - the festival of light. Children explore this festival through learning the story and creating a dramatic shadow puppet theatre show for their friends and teachers!

We continue to learn phonics through Little Wandle, and maths through White Rose Maths.
Our Maths KIRF this term is: To say the numbers in order to 10.

The class also create diyas (candle holders) from clay and learn about 2D and 3D shapes by making firework rockets! The children also spend more time in the conservation area as a bonfire night tradition - toasting marshmallows around the fire pit - yum!

We really enjoyed our 'Dance' unit in PE this term and worked very hard on our Wild Rumpus dance, inspired by our key text 'Where the wild things are!'

Then the Christmas festivities began with nativity practise, Christmas dinner, Christmas party and Christmas jumpers!
