In 2020, St Mary's C of E Primary School and Nursery joined The Partnership Trust. For more information, please see the Trust's website: Home - The Partnership Trust

St Mary’s is a growing church school, set in an idyllic rural location on the fringe of Writhlington village.  The school roll is currently 135 + our Nursery. We have seven classes, allowing us to operate as single year groups throughout the school.

Little Acorns      Nursery

Little Oaks         Reception

Class 1                Year 1

Class 2                Year 2

Class 3                Year 3

Class 4                Year 4

Class 5                Year 5

Class 6                Year 6

Each class comprises mixed-ability children and the class sizes are normally small in comparison to most other primary schools, averaging low 20s.

We are also delighted to operate our own Nursery class – the perfect introduction to our lovely school. We accommodate up to 20 children for each session in the Nursery, including a small number of two year olds. Our Early Years team has worked hard to achieve the Bristol Standard accreditation, validators noting, "...how well the new build has integrated the nursery into the whole school community."

We enjoy excellent facilities including a large hall and interactive screens in every classroom. The beautiful extensive grounds include a large playing field, quiet areas, playgrounds, conservation areas, a woodland area and a sensory garden.

“A strong feature of the school is its full and engaging curriculum." [Ofsted]

"Pupils and parents are positive about how teachers help pupils to stay healthy...

...pupils behave well and work hard. Teachers make learning interesting and celebrate pupils' successes..."

"Staff morale is high and, together with governors, there is a commitment from...all to raise standards."

All staff work well together to provide a school in which children feel happy and safe as well as challenged and stimulated. Our team is dedicated to the education and care of each child as an individual.

We encourage you to come and visit. You will find the whole school community friendly, welcoming and keen to talk with you about all that we do.
